Our Stories, Our Places, Our Futures

About the Project

We’ve assembled four fantastic artists to work with sixteen, 11-25 year olds from North East Derbyshire to build a co-creative ensemble to work together from April – September 2022. The ensemble will explore their relationships with where they live, the futures they see ahead of them, and the stories they want to tell.

Regular sessions are taking place every Monday at West Studios in Chesterfield throughout the summer 2022, get in touch if you’re aged 11-25, live in North East Derbyshire and would like to get involved. We have plans for a residency at Bolsover Castle, and the co-creation of a performance or participatory ensemble piece to be shared at Tapton Lock Festival in Chesterfield on Saturday 10 September, 2022.

Our Stories, Our Places, Our Futures is a brand new project working in partnership with Junction Arts and funded by Arts Council England with support from Derbyshire Community Foundation.

Our Stories, Our Places, Our Futures is the first four Derbyshire-based action research pilots initiated by Adverse Camber in response to a series of meetings with a diverse group of Midlands-based freelancers and organisations. These meetings uncovered very strong and genuine enthusiasm for diverse projects underpinned by story and storytelling, exploring key themes of identity, community and environment / ecology to help create resilient and connected communities.
