Katy Cakwell

Katy Cawkwell has been creating and performing work based on traditional folktale, myth and legend since 1996.  She was commissioned to develop Rhiannon by the Festival at the Edge in 2003 and subsequently toured this widely, including to the Barbican Pit Theatre and international storytelling festivals in Wales, Austria and Sweden.  She has also worked extensively with the Norse myth of Sigurd, including performances at the Royal Opera House (Clore Studio) and Blackheath Halls.

Other work for adult audiences includes The Romance of Lancelot and The Sky Beyond the Sky (a Venezuelan creation myth).  In 2009, she was one of four shortlisted for the Arts Foundation Storytelling Fellowship.  Katy also performs and leads workshops in educational and corporate settings. She has worked in a wide range of schools, government organisations, businesses and museums, including Royal Opera House Adult Education, English National Opera, The Barbican, The British Museum and The National Gallery.  She was commissioned by Mayflower400 to bring The Story of the Mayflower to over 3000 children in Plymouth schools in 2020.
