New tour - Fire in the North Sky: Epic Tales from Finland!

We are delighted to announce a new autumn 2016 tour of our hugely popular UK-Finland collaboration, Fire in the North Sky: Epic Tales from Finland (Saatuja Sanoja).

Leading UK storyteller, Nick Hennessey and three of Finland’s finest musicians make the 2000 year old stories of Kalevala, Finland’s national epic and cultural treasure, come alive with a touch of offbeat fun, enchantment and evocative music that moves between dancing flutes, infectious rhythms and hauntingly beautiful sung melodies.

Travel to the extremes of the Finnish landscape and experience authentic creation myths alongside tales of Finland’s illustrious heroes and most resolute women.

The show will tour from Thursday 6 – Saturday 15 October 2016 playing at seven venues and festivals including Litfest at the Dukes in Lancaster, Cambridge Junction, Margate Theatre Royal, Sheffield Crucible Studio as part of Off the Shelf Festival, Chester Literature Festival, Square Chapel Centre for the Arts in Halifax and Carriageworks Theatre in Leeds. Last year, Fire in the North Sky played to packed theatres across the UK and word of the quality and originality of the show quickly spread, with some travelling to catch it twice on its run. Plus we’ve had so many people asking when the show will be touring again and if it will be coming to a venue near to them. Now’s your chance to highlight 6 - 15 October 2016 in your diary for the Fire in the North Sky tour! Here are the four artists that created and perform in the show outside Sage Gateshead in October 2015. “I haven't enjoyed anything so much as this magical performance in a long time it was phenomenally good. The storytelling, the music, the singing and vocalizations, the atmosphere, the stories, just wonderful.” “I adored this show; I see a lot of theatre and it's one of the best things I've seen this year. Really different, very entertaining and so clever and witty.” “I was knocked out by quality of the performers (both the storyteller and the musicians), and loved the feel of the production.” “I was amazed to find performers of such awesome stature and a show which was at once fun and academic, while maintaining a degree of improvisation. I had not expected this quality for the ticket price.  I am still thinking about this one days later and I go to a show or film at least every week.”
