Cysur y Sêr
Cysur y Sêr is a national-focused, Welsh-led and bilingual project that is about developing stories in Welsh, environmental respect and leaving an impactful legacy for future generations, leading up to the performances of Stars and their Consolations tour across Wales in March- April 2026.
Mae Cysur y Sêr yn brosiect dwyieithog, a arweinir gan y Gymraeg, sydd â ffocws cenedlaethol. Mae’n ymwneud â datblygu straeon yn Gymraeg, parch amgylcheddol a gadael gwaddol effeithiol i genedlaethau'r dyfodol. Bydd y prosiect yn arwain at
berfformiadau Stars and their Consolations ar daith ledled Cymru, fis Mawrth tan fis Ebrill 2026.
Telling stories of the night sky helps make sense of constellation patterns in ways which connect us to our deep and recent past, and which orientate us, in geography, time, the seasonal year and culture. Stories are one of our most adaptable and reliable ways of passing on knowledge between generations.

While working on the R&D and speaking to Welsh storytellers and audiences, we realised there is a danger that stories inspired by the night sky might be lost due to:
- increasing light pollution
- less people sharing stories of the stars in daily life
We were also excited to discover
- possible knowledge of Welsh myths of star constellations
- what happens when Greek myths of the stars are told in Welsh.
We will be working with 10 venues across Wales, their communities and collaborating with experienced and emerging storytellers to explore these themes and ways of working together in ways which are accessible and climate conscious.
We are celebrating Wales’s distinct and diverse identity as a nation protecting its Dark Skies and culture, embracing stories in many languages and different heritages.
We will be focusing on three areas of work over the next year:

Roeddem hefyd yn gyffrous i ddarganfod - gwybodaeth bosibl o chwedlau Cymreig am gytserau sêr - beth sy'n digwydd pan adroddir chwedlau Groegaidd am y sêr yn Gymraeg.
Byddwn yn gweithio gyda 10 canolfan ledled Cymru a’u cymunedau. Byddwn yn cydweithio â storïwyr profiadol ac egin storïwyr er mwyn archwilio'r themâu hyn a'r ffyrdd o gydweithio mewn ffyrdd sy'n hygyrch ac yn ymwybodol o'r hinsawdd.
Rydym yn dathlu hunaniaeth unigryw ac amrywiol Cymru fel gwlad sy'n gwarchod ei Hawyr Dywyll a'i diwylliant, gan gofleidio straeon mewn llawer o ieithoedd a threftadaeth wahanol.
