As creatives we love what we do, it’s our passion and often our life’s purpose but sometimes it is at odds with the demands of earning an income.

Who Knows: Facilitation aims to address this. How can we turn our creative practice into workshops? What needs to be considered and prepped for facilitating confidently and effectively?

This facilitation training is aimed at creatives who want to turn what they do into a facilitation practice.

Over the course of 2 days you will:

  • Discover what lies at the heart of your practice
  • Try out facilitating and co-facilitating techniques, and experiment with a range of exercises
  • Explore practical considerations of designing, delivering and de-briefing workshops

This course is suitable for experienced artists and practitioners working in storytelling across a range of disciplines (e.g. storytellers, poets, performers etc), who wish to develop and extend their skills and confidence in facilitating and co-facilitating creative workshops, with a focus on working with young people.

This is a space where we can ask questions and share advice on best practices.

Deanna Rodger is a leading poet in the UK. In 2021, her reimagined version of If was read by Serena Williams. She has been welcomed to perform and facilitate workshops all across the world including: Mexico, Sudan and Beirut, and has been commissioned by institutions such as: Adidas, FIFA, St Paul’s Cathedral, and BBC.

I Did It Too, a collection of performance poetry, came out in 2017 (Burning Eye Books).

This masterclass is taking place as part of the Our Stories, Our Places, Our Futures project in partnership with Junction Arts and supported by Arts Council England and Foundation Derbyshire.
